Youth and Sport Ministry to hold "World Meeting of Children 2022" on the sidelines of COP27

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, is implementing the "World Meeting of Children " festival from 15 to 21 October in Cairo as part of Egypt's hosting of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the UNFCCC.


The World Children's Festival was included in the Youth and Preparatory Agenda for the Climate Summit. The Ministry of Youth and Sports coordinates and engages with the Youth Service of the Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC (YOUNGO) to provide appropriate organizational facilities for the implementation of the United Nations Youth Conference on Climate COY.


Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports said, " The festival is one of the most important tools of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to communicate with the children of the world and create an atmosphere of understanding and exchange of experiences with different countries of the world. Pointing out the importance of expanding during the coming period in holding more meetings and events that bring together the youth of Egypt with their counterparts from different countries of the world to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and joint relations and to provide them with more experiences, introduce them and open them to different cultures from all countries of the world."


He added, " The festival, entitled “The Meeting of the Children of the World of 2022”, comes within the framework of the keenness to communicate with the cultures of different countries of the world, and the belief in the role of art and culture in the rapprochement between peoples as a soft force, so it will be undertaken at the highest level."


The festival includes various performances and reviews of the participating countries as an expression of the culture of each country. In the same context, the festival witnesses the participation of more than 25 Arab and foreign countries from all around the world, the implementation of a number of visits to tourist places and artistic events in youth centers, clubs, national projects, and the implementation of six workshops on the repercussions of climate change and its effects on food, water and economic security.
