Sobhy and Thomas Bach attend CIB Open Squash Championship final rounds

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Mr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, witnessed the final rounds of the CIB International Open Squash Championship 2022 in its fourth platinum edition for men and women, held from 19-25 September, with the participation of 96 players from more than 24 countries around the world, with a total prize money exceeds 11 million Egyptian pounds.



This came on the sidelines of a tour of the pyramids, which was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, for the President of the International Olympic Committee and his accompanying delegation.



Dr. Ashraf Sobhy stressed that holding this tournament in this atmosphere is a new challenge to continue to dazzle the world with the unique capabilities that Egypt enjoys in holding this global event, in a way that reflects the Egyptian superiority in hosting major international sporting events, and is added to the series of consecutive successes for Egypt at the international level in squash.



Sobhy pointed out that the Egyptian squash team is the best in the world thanks to the champions of the Egyptian national team on the throne of the game in all the different stages of the year, thanks to the support of the political leadership keen to put the Egyptian sport in the ranks of the world sports.



It is worth noting that the Minister of Youth and Sports received this evening, Mr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee at Cairo Airport, and then they went to a tour of the Pyramids, accompanied by Dr. Hassan Mostafa, President of the International Handball Federation, and Engineer Hisham Hatab, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Mostafa Baraf.  President of the Federation of African Olympic Committees "ANOKA", members of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, as well as a number of officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and a group of athletes.
