Sobhy praises the achievement of Egypt’s men's table tennis team at 2022 ITTF World Team Championship

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, praised the unprecedented achievement of the national table tennis team by ascending to the round of 16 in the 2022 ITTF World Team Championship for men’s teams held in China, wishing them success in the next round and competing with the best 15 teams in the world in table tennis.


The 2022 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals will see the globe’s strongest teams face off to win two of the sport's most coveted prizes; the Swaythling and Corbillon Cups. More than 250 athletes will be out in force representing 60 teams across the 10 days of table tennis action.


Chengdu will host the 56th edition of the event. The first World Table Tennis Championships were held in London in 1926 and since 1957 has been held biennially. The World Team Table Tennis Championships were first staged as their own competition in 2000.


The team includes the players: "Mohamed Al-Baili, Youssef Abdel Aziz, Shady Magdy and Mohamed Shoman", the technical staff led by Captain Maged Ashour, the technical director for men and women, Captain Imad Moselhi, the men's coach, and Mr. Ahmed Reda, head of the mission, member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation.


Dr. Ashraf Sobhy stressed the successive achievements of Egyptian sports in various Arab, continental and international forums, in various games, pointing to the excellence of the Egyptian table tennis sport, and the ability of the players to achieve unprecedented achievements and win the various competitions in which they participate.
