Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, inaugurated the first edition of the North African Schools Championship, hosted by Egypt from October 7 to 12, at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, which qualifies for the African School Championship on the continent.
Ten schools for boys and girls from countries: "Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria" will participate in the tournament.
The Minister of Youth and Sports thanked and appreciated the Confederation of African Football, headed by Patrice Motsepe, for its support of the African Schools Championship project, and for its keenness to develop football in school sports, which is a broad base for the provision of many talents.
The Minister of Sports valued the African Schools Championship, which was adopted by the Confederation of African Football, in the framework of cooperation with local federations and seeking to develop the capabilities of young people in football, and discovering the talented among them.
In his speech, Veron Musingo, Secretary-General of the African Union, expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian state for hosting the African Schools Championship, praising the permanent support of the Minister of Sports for hosting the various CAF competitions in Egypt.
The President of the Football Association also welcomed all the attendees and participants in the tournament, hoping that it will be a distinguished tournament at the level of north African schools.
