Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, honored adventurer and environmental activist Ali Abdo, after setting two records in the "Guinness Book of Records" and making the longest trip in the world on an electric bike, within 30 days, under the name "The Ride to COP27."
The first record was achieved by recording the "longest trip on an electric bicycle within a country", after he covered a distance of 9,759 km within 22 days of the start of the trip, which is a new record for the first time recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
The second record is “The Longest Journey on an Electric Bike in History”, with a length of 12,742 thousand km within 29 days, as the journey started from Cairo, passed through all governorates of Egypt with the aim of raising youth awareness of climate changes, and ended in Sharm El-Sheikh while hosting the 27th Climate Conference.
Sobhy congratulated the Egyptian adventurer, Ali Abdo, for setting a new record in the Guinness Book of Records as the first Egyptian and Arab young man to enter the Guinness Book of Records, with the aim of supporting sustainable development in Egypt and contributing to the implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030, and in support of environmental protection and achieving sustainable development goals in the direction of using clean energy.
The Minister of Sports noted the importance of the role of youth in protecting the environment, preserving natural resources and integrating them into environmental work, as one of the ministry's strategies to have a generation able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, pointing to the support of the political leadership of youth and their empowerment in all fields.
The adventurer, Ali Abdo, thanked Dr. Ashraf Sobhy and the Egyptian state for providing and preparing all the procedures and preparations that were implemented to set the Guinness World Record for the longest distance driving an electric bicycle under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Abdo said that the trip was an important challenge, and he and his assistant team had been preparing for the trip for about two years, which enabled him to achieve that result, which is an Egyptian achievement that increases the number of Egyptian records in the Guinness Book of Records, revealing that he was prepared to undertake a trip to the 28th Climate Summit to be held in the UAE next year.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian adventurer Ali Abdo is an ambassador for sustainable development, the first Arab to set a record on a motorcycle in the Guinness Book of Records, and the first Arab to set a record on an electric bike in the Guinness Book as well.
