Sports Minister and Japan Ambassador participate in national judo teams training

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy: Egyptian judo is in continuous development and we aspire to achieve an Olympic medal in judo in the Paris Olympics...and all appreciation to the Japanese side for the fruitful cooperation.


Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan to Cairo, participated this morning, Wednesday, in the national teams’ judo rehearsal held at the Olympic Center in Maadi.


The Minister of Youth and Sports expressed his happiness at being with the male and female national judo teams today, indicating that the sport of judo in Egypt is improving greatly, and we want to achieve better results for the players in all tournaments, and to win an Olympic medal in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024, thanking the Japanese ambassador on fruitful cooperation in many sports, including judo and karate.


The Minister of Sports stressed the importance of practicing sports and its many positive effects on building the individual mentally, physically and psychologically.


 Sobhy pointed out that the ministry is aiming to support the various sports federations to prepare the players of the national teams for various international tournaments, motivate them permanently, and provide their needs and care to create the atmosphere around them in order to sustain the sporting achievements.


For his part, the President of the Judo Federation thanked and appreciated the Minister of Youth and Sports for the permanent support of the federation, praising the presence of the Japanese ambassador, the cooperation in judo sport, and the organization of several joint activities during the month of March, according to the cooperation protocols signed with the Japanese side.


The national judo teams gather in a training camp in preparation for a group of players to compete in several upcoming competitions.
