Under the Sponsorship of the Ministry of Youth and Sports: International Marathon for Bicycles (Egypt - South Africa) in January

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, agreed to the sponsorship of the ministry to the International Marathon for Bicycles in coordination and cooperation with The Global Biking Initiative (GBI). This came as part of the program of sports events organizers, which includes a number of special sports groups

The Marathon will be held through two rounds, the first round is for four days from 7 to 10 January, and will start from Aswan Governorate to Luxor Governorate in Egypt with the participation of 40 young men and women, followed by the second round, which will last for four months from 17 January to May 2019 With the participation of 50 young men and women, the marathon starts from the pyramids of Giza in Egypt and ends in South Africa

The Marathon will be participated by young people from different countries including (Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, England, Germany, Canada, France, Italy and America)

The Minister of Youth and Sports directed to the participating in organizing the marathon and support it with all logistic matters, and coordinating with the concerned entities, as well as coordinating with the Egyptian Cycling Federation, pointing to the ministry's orientation towards developing programs and activities and putting Egypt on the spotlight of world events by hosting major international sports championships which contributes to the revitalization of the Egyptian tourism

The Global Biking Initiative (GBI) is a non-profit organization that aims to spread awareness of cycling and support the domestic tourism through its trips to the tourist and archaeological cities
