Minister of Sports welcomes Chairman of the World Cup Organizing Committee in Russia 2018 and President of the World Chess Federation

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, welcomed in his office, Arkady Dvorkovich, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the President of the World Chess Federation, and former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, accompanied by Major General Ahmed Nasser President of the Union of Sports Confederations (UCSA), Emad Al-Bannani, Secretary-General of the Union of Sports Confederations, Hisham El-Gendy, President of the Egyptian Chess Federation, and Youssef Ahmed Wessal, Vice-President of the Egyptian Chess Federation.

During the meeting, Minister of Youth and Sports congratulated Arkady Dvorkovich for his recent winning of the presidency of the World Chess Federation, stressing Egypt's support for him and his efforts to spread the game in the world and in the African continent.

Arkady Dvorkovich thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports after the success of the Egyptian efforts in including chess at the African Games in Morocco in August 2019. Also He praised the Ministry’s interest in chess sport at Arab and African level, stressing the support of the World Federation for the Egyptian Chess Federation.

The two parties exchanged views to benefit from Russia's experience in organizing the FIFA World Cup, to reflect that on Egypt’s organization of African Cup of Nations next June. As well as discussing the joint cooperation in youth training in sports and information technology
