Ministers of Youth and Higher Education celebrate 180 years of Applied Arts


Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, In the presence of Majid Najm, President of Helwan University, attended the celebration held by the Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University for the 180th anniversary of its establishment.


Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, assured that Applied Arts is a college with a great artistic history, referring that Helwan University is one of the artistic universities as it concludes Applied Arts, Music and other artistic colleges.


He thanked Dr. Ashraf Sobhy for his participation in the celebration and for his constructive efforts in youth and sports fields, praising the civilized form Egypt had appeared with in the ceremony of Africa Cup of Nations Draw.


Faculty of Applied Arts was established in 1839 in the era of "Mohamed Ali" and it was called the School of Arts and Industry, then the name was changed to be the Applied Arts School and then the Higher Institute of Applied Arts until it became the Faculty of Applied Arts. The faculty includes 14 sections the most important are: Interior design, furniture, printing, publishing, packaging, advertising and industrial design.


The most famous graduates of the Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University, is a group of artists on the international level, and they are: Omar El-Nagdy, Fekry Gamal, Ahmed Atta, Mahmoud Shoukry, Sabry El Sayed and the late creative artist Abdel Moniem Madbouly.


At the end of the celebration, Majid Najm, President of Helwan University, honored the Ministers of Youth & Sports and Higher Education with the shield of the University
