H.E. president Abdel Fattah El Sisi conducted an inspection tour at Cairo Stadium with Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, to follow up the final arrangements for launching the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Championship  which will start on 21st of June.

Bassam Rady, spokesman of the presidency, said that the aim of the tour is to stand up for all the preparations of the stadium, which will witness the opening and the closing ceremony of AFCON in addition to number of matches throughout the championship.

El Sisi inspected the development and efficiency activities carried out at the Cairo Stadium complex, which included all its components, including the facilities and preparations of the stadium, as well as the services and roads surrounding it.

The spokesman explained that El Sisi praised the efforts exerted during the last period by the concerned work system and the authorities responsible for developing sports facilities and stadiums for AFCON 2019. Directing to proceed this efforts to ensure the success of the championship which in return reflects the civilized aspect of Egypt and it’s ability to organize and host major sports competitions at the level of the continent and the world.

The President asserted his confidence that the championship would be a positive push for the Egyptian sports in general after the developments and the upgrade that included the sports infrastructure at a number of the Republic governorates according to the international standards
