As AFCON surprises continue, Madagascar qualified for the round of 8 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which takes place in Egypt from June 21 to July 19, for the first time in their history, beating DR Congo with penalty kicks.
Madagascar participated in the tournament for the first time it their history, after beating Nigeria and Burundi and drew with Guinea in group stage to qualify for the round of 16 as number one in its group.
Madagascar opened the match with their first goal at the 9th minute of the first half by Ibrahim Amada, followed by Congo’s first goal by Cedric Bakambu to drew with Madagascar at the 21st minute.
At the second half, Madagascar scored their second goal by Faneva Andriatsima at the 77th minute, returned Congo to score the drew goal again with Madagascar by Chancel Mbemba to end the original time of the game with draw 2-2 to enter two more halves and still no team was able to score the winning goal, then the two teams mover to Penalty kicks
To win over DR Congo 4-2 by penalty kicks and qualify for the round of 8 for the first time.
