Twenty
Eight countries have confirmed their participation in the 2019 African Para
Taekwondo Open Championship to be hosted on the 20th of February in
Hurghada, Egypt.
Although
it is the fourth edition of the championship, yet it is the first time to be
hosted in Egypt due to the efforts of Major General Ahmed El-Fouli, Vice President
of the World Taekwondo (WT) and head of the African Taekwondo Federation.
“Egypt is the land of great civilizations and it is always opening its hands to host such international events through which it sends a message to the whole world that it is the land of peace and inclusion. Everyone is interested to come and visit Egypt and participate in the competitions. Although it is our first time to host the championship, but I am sure it will be the best one.” Ahmed El-Fouli said.
One
hundred and twenty athletes from five different continents will compete in the
one-day event. Ten countries will represent Africa: Morocco, Senegal, Niger,
Cameroon, Tunisia, Rwanda, Central Africa, Congo, Uganda and Egypt, the host.
Twelve European
countries will be represented as follows: Denmark, France, Spain, Turkey,
Russia, Great Britain, Ukraine, Serbia, Italy, Croatia, Poland and Finland.
Jordan,
Japan, United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan are representing Asia while The
United States of America and Brazil will represent both North and South
America.
