Minister of Sports meets with Egypt’s delegation participating in the African Games


Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, met with Egypt’s delegation participating in the African Games Held in Morocco from 19th to 31st of August that qualifies for Tokyo 2020. The meeting was attended by the board of directors of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, headed by Eng. Hisham Hatab, the presidents of the sports federations, all the players, the technical and administrative staff of the sports participating in the championship.


The meeting discussed the latest preparations of the delegation before traveling to Morocco. And Dr. Ashraf stressed that the success of the country in organizing the African Cup of Nations is an honorable example from which we drive determination to face the challenges.


Sobhy urged all the delegation’s members to exert their effort to achieve the best results. He expressed his confidence in the performance of all players and their ability to put Egypt on the podiums and to emphasize Egypt's leadership of the African continent.


Dr. Ashraf praised the cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Olympic Committee. Ending up his word with stressing that the ministry experts the needed effort in providing all the requirements of the national teams.


Hisham Hatab thanked The Minister of Youth and Sports for his efforts in the Egyptian Sports. 


Egypt is participating in the African Games with 403 players representing 22 Olympic Games: Bow and Arrow, athletics, badminton, basketball, Boxing, canoeing, Fencing, Horse Riding, gymnastics, handball, judo, karate, rowing, shooting, swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, chess and Billiard.


Fifty two African countries are participating in the 12th edition of the African Games : Egypt, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Eswatini, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the Sahrawi Republic, Sao Tome and Principe.
