The National Judo Team heads to Paris for the Grand Slam championship


The first national judo team (men) headed to Paris on Thursday 7th of February 2019  to participate in the Grand Slam championship which qualifies for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.


The delegation consists of Ahmad Saber, member of the federation board of directors and the head of the delegation, and Sayed Abu El-Midan, the technical director, in addition to eight players. 


The players are: Mohamed Abdul Mawgoud, Ahmed Ali Abdul Rahman, Ali Eid, Mohamed Abdul Aal, Abdul Rahman Mohamed, Ali Hazem, Hatem Abdul Akher and Ahmed Waheed.


Ahmed Saber said that the team is Working very hard to qualify the largest number of players for the Olympics games through gathering more points through the participation in The Grand Slam championship that starts tomorrow in Paris, followed by three championships in two months in Germany, Georgia and Morocco, pointing out that these championships are the best preparation for the African Championship hosted by South Africa in April.


He added that the team started the preparation process by participating in the international training camp held in Austria from 7th to 15th of January 2019, with the participation of 65 countries, assuring that the players were selected on the basis of their technical and physical performance in the last period nationally and Internationally, to reach the dream of qualifying for the Olympic Games and snatch Olympic medals.
