Minister of Sports discusses arrangements for the handball World Cup draw with the organizing committee

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, held a coordination meeting with the Organizing Committee for the Handball World Cup, which will be hosted by Egypt from 13-31 next January in the presence of the Chairman of the Committee, Eng. Hisham Nasr, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Governmental Communication Committee, Hussein Labib, Director of the Tournament, and officials of the Presentation and Tazkarti companies.


The meeting dealt with arrangements related to the World Cup draw ceremony. It is scheduled for 5Th September in front of the pyramids in the presence of officials of the International Handball Federation and teams participating in the World Cup. The meeting witnessed a presentation on the comprehensive program for the activities of the draw ceremony, starting with the guests’ arrival, their reception, the ceremony, and its output in a manner that fully reflects Egypt's ability to organize major international championships.


It was also agreed, during the meeting, on the perception presented for the exact location to host the draw ceremony at Mina House Hotel at the foot of the pyramids; with committing to all precautionary measures to prevent the Coronavirus, in full coordination with the International Handball Federation headed by Dr. Hassan Mustafa.


The Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized the existence of a state of harmony between all parties, and periodic coordination between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the International Handball Federation and the Local Organizing Committee. It is a unified goal for all parties to achieve success and come out with the championship in the best way that befits the position and organizational capacity of Egypt.


Dr. Ashraf Sobhi stressed the necessity of inspecting the draw ceremony site in the upcoming days and starting all the required work in the context of outputting the ceremony as required. He praised the organizational, professional, and administrative harmony all followed, which is the cornerstone of the Championship success; 32 teams from different countries will participate for the first time.
