El-Sisi is following up Egypt's preparations for the Handball World Cup next January

The Spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that the meeting dealt with following up the final preparations for organizing the World Men's Handball Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by Egypt in January 2021.

The President directed that all capabilities must be provided for the success of the tournament. It will be a global sporting celebration on the land of Egypt, and the largest sporting event in the world to organize with a public presence since the start of the Corona pandemic.

The Spokesman stated that the Minister of Youth and Sports reviewed various aspects of the ongoing preparations at the level of the Supreme Committee concerned with supervising the organization of the World Handball Cup. These aspects include efforts to raise the efficiency of the sports infrastructure that will be included in the tournament, indicating that the tournament will witness the participation of 32 countries for the first time in its history and the establishment of 108 matches in 4 different halls in three governorates. Besides, the ministry provides ten other gyms to host team training, and approximately 1,100 volunteers from the best young elements will be selected to participate in the running of the tournament, with an intensive training program for them on dealing with teams, delegations, and first aid principles to produce the championship in the best honorable way.

The meeting also witnessed the presentation of the construction and financing steps for the Egyptian Sports Fund, which is the first investment fund to support sports in Egypt.

The President directed the governance of the fund’s performance with the aim of sustaining its financial returns in favor of supporting Olympic champions, discovering and nurturing talented athletes and establishing national programs for fitness and public health.
