In photos: Youth Minister honors winners of Enactus World Cup 2020

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, honored the team of Al-Azhar University students who won the world cup in the Student Activity competition in Community Service and Entrepreneurship for the year 2020 with " Enactus Egypt" team, after beating 32 teams who participated in the championship representing a number of universities around the world, including Canada, America, Germany, India, China, Korea, and Brazil. 


The project of Al-Azhar University students is about getting benefit from the useless waste, " shrimp shells," and converting it into an important product, which is natural shrimp spices, as well as producing agricultural fertilizer that would re-enhance soil fertility. Women from villages surrounding Lake Qarun are working on the project.


The Minister of Youth and Sports congratulated the students of Al-Azhar University for their scientific excellence and their ability to serve the community through creating new solutions that enhance the scientific utilization of resources, and their superiority in the championship.


The Minister stressed keenness to encourage Egyptian youth to participate in various international competitions because of their numerous positive roles, in front of which is that youth be the best representatives for Egypt during their participation in various international forums, pointing out that the Ministry tends to compile a list of all international competitions targeting youth, and make them available to Egyptian youth to participate in them during the current period. 


The Minister directed the relevant parties at the Ministry to work on networking the initiative of Al-Azhar University students in the development project which they implement, and to discuss cooperation frameworks with "Enactus Egypt" in preparation for signing a comprehensive memorandum of understanding with the organization to foster scientific innovations and to support youth projects emerging from them.


Enactus is a non-profit organization that exists in 27 countries and includes 1730 universities around the world, and aims to reduce the gab between education and labour market through the participation of universities students in impleminting projects to solve community problems that have economic, social, and environmental dimensions. During their participation, students gain entrepreneurial skills, teamwork and presentation skills. It started its activity in Egypt in 2004 with 4 universities with 120 male and female students, and now it exists in 53 public and private universities.


At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy presented certificates of appreciation to winners of Enactus World Cup Championship 2020 and they are Sherif Sayed Mustafa, Yahya Muhammad Muhammad Al-Ghunaimi, Karim Gamal Nagy, Ahmed Khaled, Iman Shawqi Abdel Hadi, Nabil Essam Nabil, Ahmed Abdel Salam Al-Sajai, Saif El-Din Nabil, Sarah Al-Awadi Ahmed, Nadine Khaled Mohamed, Hoda Amer, Jana Ahmed Al-Feki, Fatima Serry, president of Enactus Egypt, and Mohamed Al-Ansari, Director of Enactus Egypt.
