Sports Minister inspects the first outdoor GYM in Nasr City

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, inspected today the first "outdoor gym" in the Children's Garden in Nasr City as part of the "Be Fit" initiative organized the Egyptian Union for "Street Workout - Street Sports" in the presence of Islam Kartam, the Union chairman, and many media gentlemen.


This initiative comes according to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives, the Ministry policy and the Street Workout Union to establish an "outdoor gym" in parks and public squares, and organize sports festivals for practicing physical sports in streets.


He emphasized the endeavor to spread the culture of sports practice within society, makes it a way of life and encourages citizens to practice sport for its many positive roles on the health.


He also added, "We use all possible means and adopt initiatives aimed at spreading sports. The ministry advertises qualitative federations to achieve its goals, including the Egyptian Street and Workout Federation to spread sports among citizens, and to establish gymnasiums in parks and public gardens with pure Egyptian sports equipment. AlModon Company was established by the ministry to preserve these halls and ensure their continuity.


Dr. Ashraf Sobhy confirmed safety and security factors in these halls in addition to providing coaches to raise citizens’ fitness through practicing sports. This initiative will be circulated in various governorates according to the specified standards. 


The Street Workout Union chairman said: “We offer a model and an alternative for the youth to benefit from their energies by practicing sports in gyms in parks and gardens. He thanked and appreciated the Minister of Youth and Sports for the continuous support. 


It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Street Workout Union have identified many areas, squares and public parks in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria and Aswan to implement the initiative, as the Freedom Park in Zamalek, May 15 Gardens, and Al-Azhar Park in Cairo. The initiative will be implemented in Alexandria: in a Part of Bir Masoud in Montazah, Louran Park, a part of Bayram Al-Tunisi Park in the Shatby area, and the Unknown Soldier’s Park in Al-Manshiyya, and in Aswan Governorate, the Sheraton Hotel garden, which is distinguished by its location on the Nile River.
