Sports Minister leads a cycling Marathon from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the New Museum in El Remaya Square on Occasion of October victories

On Friday morning October 2, 2020, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, led a cycling and motorcycle under the slogan "Your sport is your immunity". The marathon organized by the Central Administration for Sports Development with the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Cairo. In front of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, 600 young men and women participated to celebrate the glorious October victories.
The marathon started at 8 AM in front of the ancient Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square and ended in front of the Grand Egyptian Museum in the Pyramids area for a distance about 15 KM in less than 45 minutes.
He gave a speech about the initiative "Your sport is your immunity", in line with the political leadership directions to spread sports practice, maintain public health and fitness rates for all citizens, especially young people and youth, and make sport a lifestyle.
He said, “The majority of European countries rely on bicycles instead of cars, and this is a culture we are keen to spread among youth. We hope to form a sports generation that believes in the importance of bicycles in moving from one place to another as an economic means, and its impact on the physical fitness of its users.”
He stated that holding events and marathons in front of national projects gives a positive image and emphasizes the importance of sport for youth and community participation, indicating that the third phase of the "Your bike ... Your Health" initiative is being prepared.
The marathon was attended by Dr. Amr Haddad, Assistant Minister for Sports Development, Dr. Sonia Abdel Wahab, Head of the Central Administration for Sports Development, Mostafa Mansour, Head of the Central Youth Centers and Youth Organizations, Dr. Ashraf Al-Bagrami, Deputy of the Directorate of Youth and Sports in Cairo, and several Ministry's leaders, media and participating youth.
He also referred to the role of youth in building the homeland and confronting misconceptions and rumors, based on President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's vision and the efforts of the Egyptian state to confront all the negative actions that Egypt faces, whether at home or abroad.
