Assistant Minister of Sports receives Mayar Sherif at Cairo Airport

Assistant Minister of Sports Dr. Amr El-Hadad deputized for Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, in the presence of board of directors of Egyptian Tennis Federation headed by Ismail El-Shafei and Dr. Ahmed Gomaa, Undersecretary of the Ministry ofYouth and Sports,in receiving Mayar Sherif, Egyptian Tennis Champion and Egypt's Golden Girl, upon her arrival from Spain at Cairo International Airport, after achieving a historic achievement in Roland Garros championship, one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments.


This is in the framework of the keenness of the Minister of Youth and Sports to provide all kinds of support and assistance for the Egyptian Champions who raise the name of Egypt high and give a remarkable performance in various tournaments and forums.


Mayar Sherif managed to dig her name in gold in the tennis world for her historic achievement after becoming the first Egyptian player to rich the main role of Roland Garros tennis tournament and also the first Egyptian to win a Grand Slam match. Furthermore she became Egypt's first female tennis player to qualify for Tokyo Olympic Games.


Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif lost 2-1 to Karolina, but she fought and gave a unique performance before world No. 4 and tournament No. 2, which placed Mayar in the level of international tennis stars and ensured her the title of " Egypt's Golden Star" and the love of Egyptian people.
