On Sunday morning 4 October, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of youth & Sports, met at the General Office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports with the Organizing Committee of the 27th World Handball Cup. It will be held in Egypt early next year 2021, with the participation of 32 teams, in the presence of Eng. Hisham Nasr, President of the Egyptian Handball Federation and Chairman of the Committee The organization, Captain Hussein Labib, the tournament director, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sheikh, Executive Director of the National Sports Council and head of the governmental communication committee in the tournament, and many Ministry of Youth and Sports leaders.
They discussed the preparations for the accommodation hotels for the teams and delegations participating in the tournament, in addition to the medical plan for the tournament and its equipment in terms of preventive measures for Coronavirus, what is required as analyzes and procedures for events and delegations before coming to Egypt, and special instructions during the tournament.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy confirmed that the Egyptian state under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership provides full support and all the necessary requirements to achieve the tournament success, which is the largest with the participation of 32 teams for the first time in the tournament history. He also stressed on the need for all committees to finish all preparations for them in the specified times.
This comes during the weekly meeting that the Minister of Youth and Sports holds with the organizing committee to follow up all preparations.
Eng. Hisham Nasr thanked the Minister of Youth and Sports for his tireless efforts in removing all obstacles facing the organizing committee and his keenness to implement all work in accordance with international standards.
It is noteworthy that our national handball team chose to play in Group G with Sweden, the Czech Republic and South America representative during the draw that was held in the pyramids area in Giza.
