Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, inspected Cairo International stadium facilities, including the main playground, in preparations for hosting the two matches for Al-Ahly and Zamalek in the CAF Champions League semi-finals second leg. The two matches will be played next Friday and Saturday at Cairo Stadium. The stadium will also host the final match between the qualifiers for the final.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy stated that he is watching the matches of the three Egyptian teams, Al-Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids, in the Champions League and the Confederation, saying that the decision of the Egyptian State to restart and resume the Premier league football succeeded through the great performance and the positive results achieved by Al-Ahly and Zamalek during Champions League first leg.
The Minister's visit also included inspecting the main indoor hall of the stadium, which will host the opening and the closing ceremonies, and the events of the World Handball Championship hosted by Egypt in 2021. Its competitions and events will be held in four main halls, which are the covered halls of Cairo Stadium, New Administrative Capital, 6th of October City, and Borg Al-Arab, in addition to other sports halls.
Sports Minister, during his inspection, checked the development work of the covered hall, scheduled to host the events of Handball Championship. He also checked the completion of the ongoing work of the hall and its readiness in the coming days to host the tournament.
