Youth Minister discusses latest preparations for 27th Men's Handball world championship

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, held the weekly meeting with the Organizing Committee of Handball world championship, which will be hosted by Egypt in January 2021. The meeting was attended by Tournament Director Hussain Labib, and representatives of the sub-committees of the tournament.


The meeting tackled the discussion of all details of organizing and hosting the championship events. The meeting also discussed the training provided for volunteers and their distribution to various events in halls, airports, hotels, and the other sports halls that will host the teams' trainings, in addition to medical requirements needed to implement the precautionary and preventive measures, which were prepared in coordination with IHF. The Minister indicated that coordination will be made with the Egyptian Ministry of Health regarding the requirements of the protection plan.


The meeting also dealt with the latest developments related to construction work in the main covered halls, which will host the tournament. The Minister of Youth and Sports directed that a start should be made on providing and furnishing all the halls and their premises, including halls, media areas, materials, dressing rooms, floors, sound and lightning systems, mobil network coverage, telecommunications, and all ongoing work in all the halls of Cairo Stadium, New Administrative Capital, 6th October City, and Borg El-Arab. Sobhy was assured of the readiness of the training halls.


The meeting included discussing preparations for the ticketing system, the propaganda campaign for the launching of the tournament, and preparations for the opening and closing ceremonies for the World Cup.
