Sports Minister participates with youth of El-Shorouk City in cycling marathon

On Friday, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, participated with 500 youth from El-Shorouk City and neighboring cities in the bicycle marathon organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with Sports and Youth Directorate in Cairo under the slogan" Sports is a Right for All."


Sobhy confirmed that the marathon is a part of the Ministry's strategy to make sports a way of life and to widen the scope of practicing sports, with the participation of youth of all ages in a number of sports activities that the Ministry regularly holds in the governrates of the Republic which aim at raising the body's immunity and improving the health and fitness of youth, who are a fundamental pillar of society.


 The marathon began, with the participation of youth of all ages, from Gamal Abdel Nasser street in El-Shorouk City and ended at Bikes Park in Alsetten street. 


In a related context, the Ministry of Youth and Sports inaugurated a 1.5km free cycle track at Bikes Park and an outdoor gym, which comes within a number of outdoor gyms that are being established in public parks to encourage youth to practise physical form activities.


In another context, Sobhy expressed his happiness over the qualifying of three Egyptian teams to CAF finals, indicating that the State's keenness and vision for resuming the premier league was correct, which resulted in improving fitness levels of the Egyptian teams. This appeared during Al-Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids CAF Champions League matches. It was unprecedented for three Egyptian teams to qualify for Confederation and Champions League finals.


The Sports Minister addressed the Egyptian football fans about the importance of showing true sportsmanship during November 27th big Derby, the CAF final match between the two poles of Egyptian football, and about the importance of being proud and honour of how successful is Egypt's leadership of African sports.


Sobhy also confirmed the follow up of the ongoing preparations for the national team game against Togo. Egypt will host Togo in the 3rd round of the 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on 14, November as for the two sides will meet again in the 4th round on the 17th of the same month.


The marathon was attended by Dr. Ahmed Al- Sheikh, Executive Director of the National Sports Council, Dr. Amr El-Hadad, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports for Sports Development, Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr. Ashraf Al-Bagramy, Director of Youth and Sports Directorate, and a number of leaders of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
