Youth Minister launches flame of Border Governments Olympics

On Monday, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, launched the flame of Border Governorates Olympics, organized by the Central Administration of Sports Development which will take place over November and December 2020.


The competitions will be in “football, basketball, handball, table tennis, karate, beach soccer, athletics.” The governorates that will compete in the games are Aswan, New Vally, North Sinai, South Sinai, Red Sea, and Marsa Matruh.


The preliminary round of the competitions is due to take place in November to determine teams qualified to compete in the following rounds. The closing ceremony will be held in December at Sharm El-Sheikh.


Sobhy emphasized the intensification of the Ministry's activities and projects provided to Egyptian youth in all governorates, especially the border governorates. He stressed that the Ministry encourages people to practise sports and make it a way of life through these activities in light of the implementation of the directives of the political leadership, and in line with the vision and strategy of the ministry.


The Minister of Youth and Sports expected the success of the Border Governorates Olympics. Adding, that the winners of these various competitions will be honoured as an incentive for them, pointing out that the Olympics will create a state of popularity for sports activities and will build strong ties among the competitors from border governorates.
