Dr. Ashraf Sobhy said, “Egypt's lead in the Arab Championship is clear evidence of the players' merit and the development of Egyptian shooting. This is because of the good preparation, and urging them to give their best performance, and win the various tournaments in which they participate.” He congratulated all the Egyptian players and the Arab countries’ players who participated and achieved various medals in it, and praised their distinguished performance wishing everyone success in the upcoming tournaments.”
The Organizing Committee of the Arab Championship, hosted by Egypt from June 1-12, announced that Egypt’s players come the first with 23 medals in various competitions, 12 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze. The UAE team came in second place with 14 medals, including 3 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze, while Tunisia ranked third with 4 medals, including 3 gold and one bronze.
In fourth place, the Saudi team came with 5 medals, 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya and Lebanon ranked from fifth to ninth, respectively, and Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Mauritania were at the bottom without any medal.
Major General Hazem Hosni, President of the Shooting Federation, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Youth and Sports for his continuous support and his encouragement to host international, Arab and continental shooting championships. He confirmed Egypt has many promising talents in shooting sports who are being prepared to win more championships, pointing out that the Shooting Federation continues following up the players who qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, which is scheduled to start next July.
