Sports minister attends the opening of the Arab Cup for Teams at Cairo Stadium

Sunday 20th June 2021, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Eng. Ahmed Mujahid, Chairman of the Tripartite Committee for the Administration of the Football Association, and Sharaf El-Din Amara, President of the Algerian Football Association, and representatives of the Arab Football Association, led by Mohamed Roraouh, Vice President of the Federation, Raja Al-Salami, Secretary-General of the Federation, Mubarak Al-Dafian, Assistant Secretary of the Federation, and Major General Ghanem Ahmed, Chairman of the Tournament Organizing Committee, witnessed the opening match of the Arab Cup for U-20 teams (the seventh edition) organized by the Arab Football Association.  

He expressed his sincere wishes for a pleasant stay and success for all teams by providing an outstanding performance that reflects the expected Arab talents in football. He also pointed out that Egypt has become one of the attractive countries to host international, continental and Arab sports tournaments in various games because of accumulated organizational experience that makes it able to achieve the resounding success of any tournament at all levels.

The opening match was held at the Cairo International Stadium, and the teams of Egypt and Niger met in the first group competitions, which also include the teams of Mauritania and Algeria, and the tournament, will continue until next 6th July 2021.

It is noteworthy that the seventh edition of the Arab Cup for national teams will be attended by 16 teams, divided into 4 groups, the second group includes the teams of "Morocco, Tajikistan, UAE, Djibouti", and the third group "Senegal, Lebanon, Iraq, Comoros", while the fourth group competes with teams Tunisia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan.
