Sports Minister inspects the cycling track at Cairo Stadium

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, inspected the international cycling track at Cairo Stadium to find out the latest Egyptian preparations for hosting the World Junior Championships for Track Cycling. It is scheduled to be held from 1 to 5 September, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He was accompanied by Dr. Wajih Azzam, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, President of the Egyptian and African Cycling Federations and Vice President of the International Federation, and Mr. Alec Lanvirna, Director of the Championship.

He confirmed that he is personally following up on completing the preparations for the tournament, considering all preventive and precautionary measures taken to prevent the Coronavirus for all countries and delegations participating.

He added that the infrastructure in Egypt has become highly efficient, which allows it to host various international and world championships. That was evident starting from the World Handball Championship, the Fencing World Cup, and the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup.   

He was keen on following up on the final rehearsals for the opening ceremony and listened to the opening ceremony song sung by singer Mohamed Nour. 

Dr. Wajih Azzam emphasized that the Minister of Youth and Sports is in constant contact with the organizing committee, praising the minister’s support to complete all organizational matters related to the championship optimally in a manner befitting Egypt’s image.
