The Constituent Assembly of the Confederation of African Electronic Games resulted in the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhy, taking over the federation presidency and hosting the federation’s headquarters. The federation’s statutes were approved to suit the nature of e-sports and encourage countries to establish federations.
He thanked all African countries for their confidence and stressed that he will make E-sports on the list of priorities for African activities, organize the first African championship that unites countries and strong teams, and coordinate relations with continental ministries and international institutions. In 2019, Egypt submitted a request to the General Assembly of African Confederation, to establish the African Electronic Games Confederation.
Major General Ahmed Nasser, President of the Confederation of African Sports Confederation "OXA" praised the steps of choosing Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports. He has great experience in the field of sports management, his position and international relations would have a continental and international influence and would lead to African reunification in the field of youth and sports.
The council was formed from Alaa Al-Toumi as deputy, Dr. Fariha Karim, Ibrahim Abdi, Ihab Al-Idrisi, and Sherif Abdel-Baqi, with the selection of 5 deputies representing the geographical regions of the continent north, south, east, west, and central Africa, and the board of directors chose Mr. Hisham Al-Taher as an advisor to the union.
