Sports Minister discusses Strengthening cooperation with the Ambassador of Belarus in Cairo

Monday, Nov 1, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, met with Mr. Sergey Terentyev, Ambassador of Belarus in Cairo to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation between them.


He stressed the depth of the existing relations with the Republic of Belarus,  increasing cooperation in youth and sports projects and programs between the two countries in the coming period. He also praised the level of Egyptian-Belarusian relations, which witnessed a great boom in recent years, especially in light of the mutual presidential visits. Developing the relationships included identifying strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation, and resulted in the signing of various agreements and memoranda of understanding. 


He indicated that the ministry is developing plans and strategies to raise awareness among Egyptian youth and work to rehabilitate and train them by creating partnerships with many parties inside and outside Egypt. The ministry is working to implement sports plans that have been prepared to discover all talents, and sponsor distinguished athletes. 


The Belarusian ambassador to Cairo, Sergei Terentiev, praised the achievements of the Egyptian political leadership over the past years in many fields, pointing out that the distinguished friendship relations between the two presidents are the basic rule. 


The meeting dealt with talking about the memorandum of understanding that was signed at the sports level and discussing mechanisms for its implementation and participating in the annual celebration of Egyptian-Belarusian relations through several sports activities in football and chess.


The meeting was attended by Mr. Reda Saleh, Director General of Public Relations at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghada Hussein, Director General of International Relations at the Ministry, Sherif Gad, Director of Cultural Activity at the Russian Cultural Center, and President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities.
