Sports minister congratulates Salma Ayman on winning gold at Hungarian Indoor Open Championships

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, congratulated modern pentathlon player Salma Ayman on winning the gold medal at the Hungarian Indoor Open Championships that were held in Budapest from February 18 to 24.


The minister expressed his thanks, appreciation and gratitude to Egyptian Ambassador to Hungary Mohamed El Shenawy and all embassy staff for receiving the Egyptian modern pentathlon team and removing all obstacles facing them.


Egypt's Salma Ayman snatched the gold medal in the modern pentathlon after winning the first place with a total of 1,400 points, while the British Jessica Farley ranked second with a total of 1378 points.The Belarusian player Folha Silkina came in the third place with a total of 1374 points, while the Egyptian Amira Kandil came in 19th place after she was injured by falling during the equestrian competition, which forced her not to complete the competitions.


The medals ceremony was attended by the ambassador and all staffers of the Egyptian Embassy in Hungary, which reflects the attention paid by the Egyptian State to sport and players in all sports.


It is noteworthy that the Egyptian national team of the modern pentathlon is participating in the Hungarian International Modern Pentathlon Championship in the Hungarian capital “Budapest”, which is the first of its kind in the international participation of the modern pentathlon after the end of Tokyo 2020 Olympics.


The squad list includes Islam Hamed, Muhannad Tariq, Moataz Wael, Salma Ayman, Amira Qandil, Malak Khaled, Noreen Boulos, Maya Muhammad and Haya Muhammad.
