In light of the events of the Board of Directors of the World Anti-Doping Agency and the meetings of the Executive Office hosted by Egypt, a meeting of African Ministers of Youth and Sports, members of the Board of Directors of WADA, was held this Tuesday morning, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports.
The meeting reviewed the efforts of African countries in general in the field of anti-doping in the sports field, and the role of African national institutions with regard to educating athletes with knowledge and culture of the dangers of doping and its negative effects and its danger on the health and psychological aspects of athletes.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy offered the possibility of analyzing the blood samples of international players for some African countries in the Egyptian laboratory to detect doping.
The minister stressed the Egyptian state's approach within the framework of the political leadership's directives towards strengthening relations with various African countries, including in the field of sports, as well as coordination with African brothers regarding the fight against doping in sports, and the implementation of the strategy of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
For their part, the African Ministers of Youth and Sports, members of WADA, praised the pivotal role that Egypt plays in the field of anti-doping, as it is at the forefront of countries in the field of anti-doping on the level of the African continent, praising the tangible effort of the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports and his proposals that he presented in the Board of director meetings of the World Anti-Doping Agency during the last period welcomed the proposal to analyze the blood samples of players for some African countries in the Egyptian laboratory to detect doping, and for the biological passport.
