Egypt kicks off Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a win over Guinea

The Egyptian team succeeded in defeating Guinea 1-0 in the match that was held at Cairo International Stadium in the first round of Group D in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, 2023. Mostafa Mohamed scored the first goal of the Pharaohs in the 87th minute, from a shot inside the penalty area to hit the feet of the Guinean defenders. Ibrahim Kony, the Guinean goalkeeper was deceived, then the ball turned into the net.


The national team started its procession with the first three points. Group D includes Guinea, Ethiopia, and Malawi. The victory of the Pharaohs over Guinea was remarkable, as it was the first match under the leadership of Ehab Galal, the new coach, who took over the task recently, succeeding the Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz.
